1、黏结力强，强度高。水玻璃在凝结硬化后，其主要成分为二氧化硅凝胶和氧化硅。硅酸凝胶能堵塞毛细fL隙，起到阻止水分渗透的作用，因而具有较高的黏结力和强度。工程实践证明，用水玻璃配制的混凝土抗压强度可达到15～40MPa。

 

　　2、具有极好的耐酸性。由于水玻璃硬化后的主要成分为二氧化硅，因此可以抵抗除氢氟酸、过热磷酸以外的几乎所有的有机和无机酸类，是一种耐酸性极好的建筑材料，可用于配制耐酸混凝土、耐酸砂浆和耐酸胶泥。

　　3、具有良好的耐热性。水玻璃硬化后形成二氧化硅网状骨架，在高温下不燃烧、不分解、且强度有所提高，可用于配制耐热混凝土、耐热砂浆和耐热胶泥。

　　4、耐碱性和耐水性差。水玻璃在加入氟硅酸钠后仍不能完全硬化，仍有一定量的Na20.nSi02存在。
